About us

Formula SAE is a student design completion in which a fictional company has hired an engineering design team to develop a small Formula Style race car. This prototype car is to be fictional sold as a kit car to the weekend autocross racer. The goal for the UMaine Formula SAE team is to build this prototype race car which will be judged and scored on it design, marketing, and performance at the annual Competition.

A large part of the design challenge is the numerous restrictions and requirements that must be followed. A full set of these rules and restrictions can be found in the 2013 FSAE rule book on the FSAE Website or by Clicking Here.

This years UMaine Formula team has come a long way from last year. The team has a new focus on interdisciplinary teamwork in hopes to emulate a real world business environment. The team has grown from having only Mechanical Engineering team members to now having team members from seven additional disciplines, including: Mechanical Engineering Technology, Business Marketing, New Media. In addition, the School of Mechanical Engineering Technology website can be found by Clicking Here.

We are currently counting down the weeks to Michigan and can't wait show off this year car!
